Why This Scholarship Exists

The Wilcox Resilience Scholarship was created to invest in the next generation of students from Rochester's 19th Ward. Inspired by the journey shared in From the 19th Ward, this scholarship recognizes perseverance, character, and determination over perfection.

This scholarship exists to remind young people that where they begin does not determine where they can go.

Roots

Why the 19th Ward?

Every neighborhood has stories.

The 19th Ward shaped mine.

It taught me resilience, responsibility, accountability, and the power of every decision.

This scholarship is my way of investing back into the community that helped shape who I became.

The goal isn't simply to help pay for school.

The goal is to help someone believe that their future can become greater than their past.
