About the Author
Joshua Wilcox

Joshua Wilcox is a public health and fitness professional, writer, father, entrepreneur, and memoirist from Rochester, New York. Raised in the city's historic 19th Ward, he came of age near the intersection of Chili Avenue and Sherwood — a place that shaped both his early struggles and the lessons that would ultimately redefine his life.
After the 2007–2008 financial collapse shook his family from stability into survival mode, Joshua was pulled into street life, fast money, and the choices that eventually led to incarceration at Greene Correctional Facility. What followed became the foundation for a deeper transformation rooted in faith, discipline, accountability, and purpose.
Today, Joshua is the founder of the Resilient branded ecosystem, a growing network of businesses and platforms built around transformation, discipline, and long-term impact. The ecosystem includes e-commerce, personal training and performance coaching, real estate development, and now Resilient Publishing Co.
Through both business and storytelling, Joshua speaks openly about identity, survival, masculinity, incarceration, redemption, and rebuilding a life from the ground up. His writing is raw, reflective, and unapologetically honest — capturing not only the consequences of his past, but the mindset required to create a different future.
From the 19th Ward: The Making of a Resilient Man is the first volume in an ongoing memoir series published through Resilient Publishing Co., documenting his journey from the streets of Rochester to personal transformation.
Joshua writes to leave behind more than a story.
He writes to leave perspective.
To honor the people who shaped him.
And to offer proof that even after poor decisions, pain, and prison, a man can still rebuild himself with intention.
